Architecture
Why did I pick Architecture?
I picked architecture because I like to take images of buildings. I think architecture is a very unique thing and it needs a l0t skill. When I was lookking at the other options that we had they just didnt stand out like Architecture did. I was looking at the images they gave when we had to pick and when I was looking at this I saw that they had a lot of photoshopped images and they have used things to create buildings.I know architecture isnt just about buildings it can be many other things.
Definition of Architecture:
Lucien Hervé
Lucien Hervé was a French Photographer of Hungarian origin. He was notable for his architectural photography, beginning with his work for Le Corbusier. Lucien Hervé is one of the rare photographers to combine a humanist outlook with an architect's eye. His characteristic style of cropped frames, plunging or oblique views, and pared-down compositions tending toward abstraction distinguish his work from that of his contemporaries.
Assessment
I see an abstract picture. It makes you think because you can see a girl's shadow on the wall. It looks confusing because you don't know where the shadow is coming from. The image is also back and white. The image also makes it look like the girl is standing on the wall but she's standing on top of the building and the sun is making her shadow look abstract. The photograph reminds me of my school (Thomas Tallis School) because of the building and the windows. Then the black bit would be the bridges on the school with the sixth formwork area near the reception. No it's not relatively abstract because there's not much about this image that's abstract it's just the shadow and the black bit of the image and the way they both combine and make it look like it's a square. The shapes of this pattern is very similar because the windows and the shadows shape is both the same. The shade of the image is black and white and I think it looks good because if the image had colour in it then you wouldn't be able to see the shadow as well. The tone of the image is dark and I think it looks good dark. He/she captured the play of the light in this image with the children playing around and how the sun has reflected the buildings shadow on the wall. The kid also walking on the building has also been seen in the image because of the sun. In this image the space of the image Is really small it don't show much of the foreground , background and the middle ground. They only show a little bit of everything. The photographer has dealt with space and time really good. He has really captured the time because of how he's got everything so good.

Bas Jan Ader
Bas Jan Ader was a Dutch conceptual artist, performance artist, film maker and photographer. Most of Ader's work was about him falling off trees, roofs, bikes. He based his work with gravity and when he first fell of the roof he started to do more. He took lots of videos of him falling down and the most popular video was Ader riding his bike into the lake. His work inspired a lot of artists. Ader went to sail on his boat across the Atlantic ocean but never returned. They found his boat but they didn't find. They assume he's dead.
My Images
Wilton Diptych
The Wilton Diptych is a small portable diptych of two hinged panels, painted on both sides, now in the National Gallery, London. It is an extremely rare survival of a late Medieval religious panel painting from England. He would carry it everywhere with him and he would turn it around when he would pray to Mary.
What's a diptych? |
What's a triptych? |
A diptych (pronounced dip'tik) was originally a pair of paintings hinged together. In photography the diptych has become a popular format. Pairs of closely associated portraits, images or themed pictures are often used to off-set one another.
|
Diptych and triptych come from the Greek meaning two (dip) or three (trip) fold (tych). This usually referred to a work of art that was divided into sections and hinged together but has come to be something that is widely used in photography and the art world.

My diptych
My triptych
I wanted my triptych and diptych to be based on my topic. I took pictures of buildings and I put the one's that I thought should be together. I tried to make them unusual. I put them on black paper because the images are black and white so I thought the black paper would look better.
Ezra Stroller's inspiring quotation
The reason why I have chose to use Ezra Strollers quotation placed on the right is because he uses a simple sentence. Out of all the quotes I have chosen this one because it states that his photographs intend to be confusing but why? This could be because there is no reasonable explanation towards the photographs. The second part of the quote tells us about the kind of images he takes which he states that he shows a "great many vistas". The definition of vistas is "a pleasing view" this could mean that we could see the photograph in another perspective such as it being in black and white.

Victor Enrich
|
Victor Enrich is a photographer and he photographs images of buildings. He uses the buildings and moves them around in unusual aways he makes some of the buildings stay in the air and some are upside down it is really interesting because it's in the same area but the buildings change in every picture. This is a video of Victor Enrich's work. The reason why I picked Victor Enrich's work is because it's different to other photographers he didn't change different buildings he changed the same building and replaced it with other buildings and made them unusual. I really liked how it was the same street and the same angle and how each time the picture was changed the images changed faster and faster until it went back to it's original image.

Architecture work
I made this with the images I liked the most. I cut them up and stuck them and made sure that they all connected when I was connecting them I realised that the strips were all different lengths but I think it looks different. I decided to bend the images so the buildings can look more realistic then stuck them down on the black paper. I chose to use black paper because it made the images stand out more than the white paper. I didn't know whether to stick the images outside or inside so I did both. I did one on a plain white wall inside and I did one outside on a brick wall. The one I liked the most is the one on the brick wall because you get better lighting and also the brick makes it looks better because my work is based on Architecture and the brick wall made more sense and it made the image look more interesting.
My Final Piece
My Final Piece was made with my images taken outside of school and there images of buildings. I was looking for paper to use to print them on and found colourful paper and decided to use them because it made the images stand out and made it look abstract as well. I sticked my images on the boarding mounts then cut them up into triangles and made a 3d shape. After I did that I placed it on top of the other images and cut out more triangles then placed it beside them. I took images of it and I liked this images the most because there it's different to my other images and it's also abstract.

I used my images from when I went to Turkey because they have a lot of amazing buildings and I was hoping to make something good out of them. I used photoshop and mixed up 2 images. When I mixed the two images together is gave the buildings a nice colour which made the buildings stand out. After I was done I wanted it to be more eye catching so I added another image and it looks good but it would have been better if I made the buildings behind darker so they could stand out. But I like both of them. I used photoshop to put these images together. I also changed the tonne of the images and made on of the images lighter so the image underneath can still be seen and with the second image I made the mosque stand out more because I wanted to have one stand out and the colour of the mosque made it stand out. My Final Piece is the image on the right and I've chosen this image because it makes the image stand out.
My Final Piece is my images from holiday and I used these images because they were the best ones I have from holiday. Also the colour of the images suit. The people in the images also make it interesting you can see a lot of the sky which makes the 1st image really empty so I added another image on top of the image and I decided to add a mosque so it relates to my theme. When I done my first image I decided to make another one and see how I can experiment with the images. After experimenting I made another image that I liked but I don't know which one I like better.
